Education of University reform

Tribhuwan University's (TU) deteriorating health is leading it to an almost certain death while the birth of our new constitution is still unceratin ( " Tomorrow never dies," Dec.28 , page 6) . This means that the implementation of the "University Umbrella Act" which looks to improve the university s ystem , cannot wait for the new constitution which is five months away in theory, but realistically, only god knows when it will be promulgated!
Separately, the transfer of chancellorship from the prime minister to an academic won't do any good if the appointment is politicially motivated. Dirty politics and nepotism have eroded the institution's credibility up unotil now . For TU's betterment , scholars must be given the opportunity to run it without any political interference whatsover
.
